Memory Foam Mattress Reviews: The Top 3 Memory Mattresses

The Top 3 Best Memory Foam Mattress To Buy

As far as mattress technology goes, memory foam mattresses are the cutting edge. The usage of special viscoelasic materials in the manufacturing process has radically improved the levels of sleep comfort, helping to provide better back support, spinal cord alignment, and relief of neck pressure. Unfortunately, not all memory foam mattresses are equal. There are many companies out there, but in regards to quality and comfort, there are three memory foam mattress companies that stand out above the rest. These are the best memory foam mattresses on the market and you will do no wrong in getting on. They will be more expensive than the cheaper memory foam mattress brands, but the added benefit in comfort and design more than make up for the increased cost. Read these memory foam mattress reviews to help in your selection.

Sealy TrueForm Mattress
The Sealy memory foam mattresses have a very good reputation and have been a top rated product for several years. Sealy is the largest mattress manufacturer in the world. Most of the company’s mattresses are in the mid to high-end price range bracket. Sealy utilizes many different mattress technologies, from inner-spring mattresses to latex mattresses. Originally, Sealy did not lead the way in memory foam mattress technology, but they have since come out with their own memory foam technology, called the Sealy TrueForm. Like most of the other top quality memory foam mattresses, the TrueForm is a multilayered technology that utilizes high-density foam core (this is not memory foam) with top layer being memory foam. The company claims the core provides superb support while the top memory foam layer gives a combination of support and comfort.

The Sealy TrueForm mattresses come in three different types: the 11 series, the 9 series, and the 8 series. The number refers to the actual thickness (in inches) of the mattress. So the 8 series has 5 inches of high-density foam in the core and 3 inches of memory foam. The 9 series comes with 6 inches of high-density foam and 3 inches of memory foam.

To be honest, I don’t see what an extra inch of high-density foam will make regarding comfort – both products probably provide identical comfort. The 11 series is a bit different though: it comes with 6 inches of high density foam for the core, a special 3.5 inch visco memory foam middle layer, and a 1.5 convoluted memory foam top layer.

The best features I like from the Sealy TrueForm mattress is the completely washable, zipper-removable cover. The 11series takes this one step further by providing a cashmere cover. The Searly memory foam mattresses are also completely compatible with their PowerBase technology – basically, with the addition of the Sealy PowerBase, turning your bed into a programmable bed with embedded massage units.
My brother uses the 11 series and he swears it’s the most comfortable mattress he’s experienced.

Simmons ComforPedic Mattress
Just like Sealy, Simmons failed to be the initial leader of memory foam technology. They have jumped on the bandwagon now, however and even claim to have developed the “next generation” of memory foam technology. Perhaps the number one complain against memory foam technology is the sinking feeling one may feel when laying on the mattress. Because you sink into the mattress, there is less freedom to move about. This causes a lot of heat to be trapped in the pockets of memory foam that contort around your body shape; this excess heat does not dissapeat very quickly and can make the sleepers feel hot. Simmons claims to have solved this problem with their NxG Advanced Memory Foam mattress technology. The consumer reports floating around state there is a bit of difference to be felt with this technology. I have personally not used the mattress, so I can’t officially weigh in.
However, the Simmon’s ComforPedic mattress is cheaper than the Tempur-Pedic mattress and perhaps the best value for your money among the “top 3” mattress brands.
Simmons has the following models of ComfoPedic memory foam mattresses: ComforPedic Original, Simmons Nassau, ComfoPedic Natural, Mystere, ComforPedic Nuvo. The ComforPedic Original has a removable and dry-cleanable suide and velour cover case. The Simmons Nassau includes an additional layer of special latex. The ComforPedic Natural in the next step up in terms of features; you get a thicker layer of memory foam, and a special inner layer of latex. In addition, you get the special Edge Support System which gives the edges of the mattress a more firm feel. The Simmons Mystere comes with a slightly thicker memory foam layer for an extra layer of comfort – but other than that it’s identify to the ComforPedic Natural. The ComforPedic Nuvo is the top in their line and includes the Simmons Nuvo bed and allows custom positioning of the special mattress through a programmable array.

Tempur-Pedic Mattress
The Tempur-Pedic mattresses were the very first to lead the way with utilizing memory foam material for mattress construction. The Tempur-Pedic is still the market leader in memory foam and is the benchmark that all other memory foam mattresses are compared against. Most people seem to agree that the Tempur-Pedic is the best memory foam mattress on the market, though some opinions vary. A good many people claim chronic backaches disappear when they started using a Tempur-Pedic mattress. However, some people also claim the mattress starts to sag after a few months. I personally have one of these mattresses and I find it the best out there of any mattress. The foam is the most firm of all the mattresses – though some may like or dislike this.

Tempur-Pedic offers several models of memory foam mattresses: the Classic Tempur-Pedic mattress and the Tempur-Pedic CelebrityBed (latest). The CelebrityBed is the thickest memory foam mattress on the market and includes a special 2 inch pillow top. Despite the corporate spiel about how much better the CelebrityBed is over the classic, I don’t feel the extra thickness makes a difference over the classic.
These are the 3 top memory foam mattress brands available. The Simmons mattresses are by farm the cheapest pricewise and the Tempur-Pedic is the most expensive. Which of these will give you the best night’s sleep is completely subjective, however. Some people like softer memory foam mattresses, while some people prefer a firmer mattress. For the most part, I suspect that price will ultimately be the main factor when buying one of these mattresses. The difference between a mattress that costs a thousand dollars and one that costs twice as much are pretty minimal – you may or may not be able to tell a slight difference. However, if you purchase any one of these mattresses and you won’t go wrong – these are the best you can find.

Summary

Of the three brands discussed above, the Simmons mattress is the cheapest with the Tempur-Pedic being the most expensive. As to which gives you the best night's sleep is a very subjective matter. Some like softer mattresses but others prefer firmer ones, also price does play a part in one's selection; when buying a memory foam mattress can you really tell the difference between one that cost a thousand dollars to one that costs twice as much? So carefully review my memory foam mattress reviews and see which features (and prices) are best for you. Whichever one of these great memory foam mattresses you chose, when you bring it home you will want to top it off with some fine cotton, satin, silk, or velvet sheets, blankets, and other bedding.
