How Do I know if I Need a New Mattress?

This is not an easy question to answer. Deciding whether you need a new mattress is not as simple as telling when you need a new car. A mattress may look as good as t he day you bought it, but it’s not the outside that counts. Mattresses are designed to help relieve the stress on hips, neck, back, and shoulders. A mattress absolutely needs to be replaced when it is not providing adequate support to these parts of your body.

Your should consider asking yourself the following questions about your current mattress:

1. Is my mattress more than 6 years old?
2. So I suffer from neck, shoulder, back, or hip pain when I wake up in the morning?
3. Do I spend more than 15 minutes tossing and turning before falling asleep?
4. Do I often experience the symptoms of “dead arms or legs” when I wake up or during the night?
5. Does my mattress sag, have lumps or show any visible sign of wear and tear?
6. Do I notice that other beds feel more comfortable than my own?

Mattresses are designed to last a long time and the life of a mattress depends on how well it was originally manufactured. However, if you answered yes to the first question, the chances are that you need to replace your mattress. Most mattresses don’t function well after 5-7 years. The weight of the body wears out the mattress components. Most manufacturer warranties will guarantee a mattress against manufacture defects, but these warranties do not guarantee that mattress will continue to provide the adequate support.
